The Young Journalist Receives Generous Grant from the Cornelia T. Bailey Foundation, West Palm Beach, FL.
The Young Journalist received a grant from the Cornelia T. Bailey Foundation's New Era Writers Program to support its free writing mentorship for 3rd-5th graders. Founded in 2018, it helps over 150 students publish essays through programs in the Indian River School District and the Gifford Youth Achievement Center.

Young Journalist Enrollment Spikes at the Gifford Youth Achievement Center (GYAC)
Young Journalist Adds Two New Mentors. 22 Students at GYAC have enrolled in this year’s journalism program - up 340%, compared to the five students last year. Classes are held in a face to face after school setting in a media lab from 4:00 – 5-00.

The Young Journalist Expands
As TYJ enters the 2022-2023 academic year, it has increased the number of SDIRC schools enrolled in the program from 8 to 12, adding Pelican, Treasure Coast, Glendale, and Sebastian Elementary Schools. Enrollment at all 14 schools has increased from 34 to over 100 students.
